Looking at the meager supplies in your backpack, you sigh and remember the days before the mysterious power outage. How much longer can you survive? Discover The Long Dark with its fresh take on survival and exploration - something Wired magazine called the cherry on top of the genre. The Long Dark is a thoughtfully designed game focusing on survival and exploration, where players must make their own decisions while journeying through a vast, cold wilderness that has survived a geomagnetic disaster. There are no zombies - just you, the cold, and what Mother Nature has in store. Wintermute, part of the first narrative season of The Long Dark, includes four out of five episodes. In December 2018, the Redux update significantly overhauled two episodes: changing the quest system, rewriting the plot, dialogues, animations, and more. Four difficulty levels allow you to choose the challenge that suits you, from Pilgrim, intended for a calm and thoughtful playthrough, to Interloper, where even the most experienced players will last only a week. If none of these suit you, create your own with Custom Mode. Several separate challenge modes offer tasks that take 1-3 hours to complete. For example, Whiteout, where you must gather enough supplies in a limited time to survive a terrible blizzard. Or Hunted, where you must escape from a bloodthirsty bear. Complete them to unlock feats - long-term improvements in survival mode. At the game's launch, five challenges will be available, with more to come.
